mylabelmaker and OpenLabelMaker, side by side
| Feature | mylabelmaker | OpenLabelMaker |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free. No account, no ads, no Pro plan. | Free plan is $0. Pro is listed at $3 a month on the yearly plan ($30 a year). Business is $6 a month on the yearly plan ($60 a year). |
| Spreadsheet imports | Excel, CSV, or a published Google Sheet. No monthly cap. One row prints one label. | Free plan includes 5 batch imports a month. Unlimited imports are on Pro. |
| Zebra printing | Paste ZPL and print that job with Zebra Browser Print, at 203, 300, or 600 dpi. You can also design the label and copy ZPL. | The Zebra templates page exports a PDF at the label size. ZPL export is listed on the Business plan. |
| ZPL viewer | Paste ^XA code and preview it on this computer, then print the same job. | Not a ZPL viewer. You design in their editor. |
| Other printers | DYMO, Brother, and Rollo print from this computer. Avery sheets are in the same app. | PDF or PNG for a printer you already have. A large sheet catalog, including A4. |
| Exports | PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF, JSON, and ZPL. | Free plan exports PDF or PNG. ZPL export is on Business. |
| Account | No signup. The label stays in this browser. | You can start without an account. Cloud saves are capped on the free plan. |
| Languages | The app is in English. A few guides are in German, Polish, Portuguese, and UK English. | The site is published in many languages. |
| Sheets outside the US | You type a custom size, including A4. US Avery numbers such as 5160 are built in. | Herma, Label Planet, and A4 Avery L-codes are part of their sheet list. |
| For another app | An MCP page at /mcp so a chat assistant can open a label that is already filled in. | A REST API on the Business plan. |
Their free editor is a real editor: fonts, barcodes, QR codes, custom sizes, and PDF or PNG, with no watermark. The limit that shows up when you have a packing list is the batch import count. Five a month on the free plan. Pro, listed at $3 a month when you pay yearly, lifts that cap. Business, listed at $6 a month when you pay yearly, adds ZPL export, a team, and an API.
Here the workbook never hits a counter. Upload Excel or CSV, or paste a Google Sheet you published as CSV. Click a column name and it lands on the label. One row, one label. Check the rows and print. There is no account to save it into.
Zebra printers
If the printer is a Zebra, the job is often ZPL you already have, from a shipping tool or an old template. Paste it in the ZPL viewer. You see the label on this computer, then print that same code with Zebra Browser Print. Install Browser Print once from Zebra and restart the browser, or the printer list stays empty. Preview can miss a rare command. Print still sends the code you pasted.
Their Zebra page is a set of sizes you export as a PDF. That PDF prints from this computer, the same way a DYMO or Brother label does here. It is not a direct ZPL print. If you only need a 4x6 PDF and you never touch ZPL, either app can do that job.
When OpenLabelMaker is the better choice
Use OpenLabelMaker when the page you need is in another language, or when the sheet in the printer is a Herma or Label Planet number they already drew. Their catalog of A4 sheets is larger than the US Letter Avery sizes here (5160, 5161, 5163, 5164, 5167, and 5395). If you want designs saved in their cloud, or a teammate on the same account, or a REST API, that is their Business plan, not this app. This app keeps the label in the browser and does not add a second person to the file.
When this free label maker is the better choice
Use mylabelmaker when the list is long, the printer is a Zebra, or you do not want an account. Avery, DYMO, Brother, Rollo, and Zebra sizes are in one place. You can print from this computer with scaling off, or send ZPL to the Zebra. The longer write-up of the same choice is why mylabelmaker is the better choice than OpenLabelMaker.
How to print the list here
- Open https://app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup. If you already know the stock, start from the size list.
- Set the label to the roll or the sheet in the printer. A 4x6 shipping label, a DYMO 30252, and an Avery 5160 are all in the app.
- Upload Excel or CSV, or paste a Google Sheet you published as CSV. The first row has to be the column names. Click a column onto the label.
- Check the rows. Print sends those labels. On a Zebra, install Browser Print once. On DYMO, Brother, Rollo, or a laser, choose Print from this computer and leave scaling off.
