How to make a shipping label

1. Open the 4 by 6 shipping template. No signup. The canvas is 4 inches wide and 6 inches tall.
2. Type one ship-to address, or import a CSV with name, street, city, postal code, and order number. One row becomes one label.
3. Add the sender, the service name, the weight, and the order number. A logo or a QR code fits only if the address still has a quiet margin.
4. Print one label at 100 percent scale. Read the postal code and check the barcode is not cut off.
5. Print the rows you checked. Mark those orders packed so tomorrow's file does not print them again.

What goes on a shipping label

Put the sender in a small block. Put the recipient in the largest type: name, street, city, region, and postal code. Name the service you bought and the weight, so both match the box. Leave a clear band for the tracking barcode. If that barcode has to be the carrier's, print their PDF. Do not redraw their bars. Add the order number so you can match the box to the sale. A logo or a QR code is optional, and only when the address still has room.

This page designs that face. It does not invent a tracking number. The postal code has to sit on the same label as the street. Leave a small margin inside the cut so the last line does not fall into the gap.

Shipping label vs postage

A shipping label is the sticker. Postage is the payment that makes the carrier pick the box up. This page designs and prints the label. Postage and the carrier tracking barcode are bought from the carrier or a shipping platform: USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, Royal Mail, Canada Post, Pirate Ship, ShipStation, or Shopify Shipping. Download their 4 by 6 PDF and print it at 100 percent scale on the same thermal printer. Fit to page shrinks the barcode.

Print the carrier PDF and your own pack face as two jobs. If the PDF looks like a tiny square on a letter page, set the paper to 4 by 6 and choose actual size. Shipping label sizes

Dots are at 203 dpi unless a cell says 300. A blank dots cell means that figure is not one rectangle.

DYMO 30256 opens as 4 by 2.31 inches, 812 by 469 dots. Brother DK-1202 is 2.4 by 3.9 inches, and the editor stores it wide side first, 800 by 495 dots. Avery 5163 opens 4 wide by 2 tall, ten cells on a letter sheet. The table lists that cell as 2 by 4, the same rectangle. Avery 5164 opens the full letter sheet, about 8.5 by 11, with six cells of about 3 1/3 by 4, so the cell dots stay blank.

Shopify, Etsy, eBay, WooCommerce and TikTok Shop orders

Export the day's orders to CSV. Use the file with a ship-to name and a street, not the product catalog of titles and SKUs. Open a 4 by 6 template, import the file, and map name, street, city, postal code, and order number. One row becomes one label. Print one and compare the order number. Then print the rest and mark those orders packed, so tomorrow's export does not repeat them.

Shopify, Etsy, eBay, and WooCommerce can all export orders. If TikTok Shop gives you an order file with the same address columns, it is the same job. This page does not connect to the shop. When the shop already bought postage, print their PDF at actual size and use a 4 by 3 packing note for the thank-you. Amazon unit labels are on FBA labels. A plain address list is print labels from CSV. Vinted's file is a different path: print Vinted shipping labels on 4x6.

Printers

A 4 inch thermal roll is the usual stock. Set the printer to 4 by 6, turn scaling off, and print one proof before the stack. Setup for each brand: Zebra, Rollo, DYMO, Brother, and Munbyn. The 4 by 6 roll notes are Zebra 4x6 and Rollo 4x6 shipping.

A regular printer still works on Avery 5163 or 5164, or with the carrier PDF at 100 percent on letter paper. If the printer feeds a blank, calibrate the gap and print one more.
