Print labels without Word

Word mail merge fails in the same places every time: the Avery template does not match the sheet you bought, the margins drift after an update, and the data source is a docx someone mailed you. You can leave that behind. Export the data to Excel or CSV, open the sheet code you actually bought, and print from the browser.

If the only copy of the addresses is inside a Word table, save that document as plain text or copy the table into Excel and check that each person stayed on one row. Then import the spreadsheet. Do not paste the Word file. The editor wants rows, not a formatted page.

  1. Get the list out of Word and into a sheet with a header row.
  2. Open the Avery card that matches the box, or the thermal card if you are done with sheets.
  3. Import and map.
  4. In the print dialog, choose the real paper size and set scaling to 100 percent.
  5. Print one sheet or one label. Compare it with the die. Then print the job.
