This page is the Inventory and warehouse labels. You set the size, add text or a barcode, and print from this computer. No signup.
Sizes
Warehouse bin
4 x 2 in. Location, SKU, and a short description. The barcode is the location or the SKU, not both crammed into one value.
2x1 asset
2 x 1 in. A tag for a tool or a laptop. One asset ID per row from the equipment sheet.
4x1 shelf
4 x 1 in. A shelf edge. Location code on the left, barcode on the right, large enough for a picker.
3x1 location
3 x 1 in. A mid-size location label when 2x1 is tight and 4x2 is too tall for the beam.
Sheet of folder labels
2.63 x 1 in. File folders and small bins, printed on letter paper at a desk away from the thermal printer.
GHS-style text block
4 x 2 in. You can print the words and a code you supply. This is not a certified GHS diamond set. Use it for an internal chemical name and a location.
Inventory labels for bins, shelves, assets, and storage
An inventory label answers "what is here" for someone in a hurry. Lead with the location or the asset ID. Put the human description second. Put a barcode of the same ID, not a different one. A shelf that says A-14 and a barcode that encodes B-14 will train everyone to ignore the barcode.
Assets, file folders, moving boxes, and warehouse bins are the same shape of job with different words. The equipment list, the folder list, and the bin list should be separate files so you do not print a laptop name onto a shelf edge. Price tags for a shop floor are a location label with a price column added. You still want the SKU scannable.
- Export the locations or the assets. One place, one row.
- Open the bin card, the shelf card, or the 2x1 asset card.
- Map ID, description, and the barcode to the same ID.
- Print one. Stick it on the real bin. Scan it from the distance you actually stand.
- Print that aisle. Move to the next aisle with a new filter, not a second copy of the first file.
A pure barcode batch is bulk barcode labels. Numbered asset runs are sequential numbered labels. Cable wraps are cable labels. The equipment sheet walkthrough is asset tags from Excel.
Questions
What should an inventory label show?
The location or asset ID in large type, a short description, and a barcode of that same ID.
Can I print shelf, bin, and asset tags from one sheet?
Only if each row says which kind it is and you filter. Otherwise print three files so a shelf edge does not get a laptop name.
