Zebra GK420d setup guide for browser label printing
The GK420d is Zebra's workhorse direct-thermal desktop printer — 203 DPI, USB, reliable for shipping and product labels. Still widely used on eBay/Etsy fulfillment benches. This guide covers physical setup, Browser Print, and printing from mylabelmaker.
GK420d specs that matter
- 203 DPI only — set DPI to 203 in mylabelmaker (not 300)
- Max width: 4.09 in — fits 4×6 shipping and 4×3 labels
- Direct thermal only — no ribbon; use direct-thermal label stock
Setup steps
- USB to computer, power on, load 4×6 or 2×1 labels.
- Hold Feed 2 seconds to calibrate gap sensor.
- Install Zebra Browser Print, restart browser.
- Open app.mylabelmaker.com, select GK420d, set artboard to match loaded stock.
- Print test barcode — scan with phone to verify.
GK420d troubleshooting
- Skips labels — recalibrate (Feed button hold); confirm gap labels not continuous
- Faded print — increase darkness; replace labels (direct thermal fades over time)
- Not in browser dropdown — Browser Print not running; replug USB
