Mail merge labels from Google Sheets
Mail merge labels from Google Sheets means one design and a different name on every label. Publish the sheet as CSV, paste it in the free label maker, and print the rows you checked. No signup.
Mail merge labels from a Google Sheet
- Put a header row on the sheet: Name, Role, Table. One person per row.
- File, Share, Publish to the web, CSV. Copy that link.
- Open the 5395 name badge, or start from the app.
- Paste the link. Click Name onto the big line and Role under it.
- Check the guests who are actually coming. Print one badge per row.
A book fair has 28 volunteers. The coordinator keeps adding names in Google Sheets until Friday. You do not retype them into badges. You publish the tab and the badges follow the rows.
| Name | Role | Table |
|---|---|---|
| Neo | Setup | A |
| Ava | Cash | B |
| Luis | Books | C |
One badge per row
That is the merge. The name on the sheet becomes the name on the badge. Check 28 rows and you get 28 badges. Uncheck someone who cancelled and they drop out of the print.
This does not pour 30 different records into the cells of one Avery sheet. If the stock is a 5395 badge, each row is one badge. If the stock is a 5160 address label, each row is one address label. The 5160 sheet template is there when you want to design the whole letter page yourself.
Publish again after the sheet changes, then paste the link if the old rows are still on screen. The other write-up is print labels from Google Sheets.
Questions people ask
Can I mail merge labels from Google Sheets?
Yes. Publish the sheet to the web as CSV, paste the link, click the columns onto the label, and print one label per row you checked.
Do I need Word for this mail merge?
No. The list stays in Google Sheets. You print from the browser.
Will the merge fill a 30-up sheet?
Each row prints as its own label. Avery's own mail merge is what fills every cell on a 5160 sheet. Here you edit that sheet template yourself, or you print one label per row.
