Updates broke the print queue again

Zebra not printing after a Windows update

Published: · 12 min read · Troubleshooting
What people report online: “Worked yesterday, Windows updated overnight, Zebra queue stuck,” “printer disappears,” “jobs flicker and never leave.” Windows print stack churn is a recurring IT headache for thermal fleets.

You can fight drivers again — or route around the fragile queue with Browser Print + free browser design, which many teams find more stable after updates.

Resilient path: install Browser Print → design in mylabelmaker → print. Less dependence on the Windows printer queue.

Quick recovery (drivers still OK)

  1. Restart the Print Spooler service (services.msc → Print Spooler).
  2. Delete stuck jobs; reboot printer and PC.
  3. Re-select the Zebra as default if you must use drivers.
  4. Print a Windows test page; then a real label.

Stop using ZebraDesigner as a single point of failure

When the only design tool is a heavy Windows install, every OS update is a shipping risk. Keep templates in a free browser tool so Mac users and updated PCs share the same workflow — without ZebraDesigner.

Rolling back Windows updates can help short-term but is not a warehouse strategy. Prefer a print path that does not depend on a single driver build.
