Zebra printer driver setup (Windows & Mac)

Published: · 11 min read · Setup

Searching for a Zebra printer driver? You have two practical paths: classic OS drivers (Windows print queue) or Zebra Browser Print with a free browser designer — the stack most mylabelmaker users prefer.

Recommended free stack: Browser Print + mylabelmaker — design in Chrome/Edge/Safari and print without fighting driver-only workflows.

Path A — Browser Print (fastest for free design)

  1. Download and install Zebra Browser Print from Zebra (free helper app).
  2. Connect the printer via USB or network; confirm it appears in Browser Print.
  3. Open mylabelmaker and print.

Full walkthrough: Browser Print setup. Connection issues: not connecting.

Path B — Windows 10/11 drivers

  1. Get the official driver package for your model (ZD420, ZD421, GK420d, etc.) from Zebra support — avoid random third-party “driver packs.”
  2. Run the installer, pick USB or Ethernet, finish the wizard.
  3. Print a Windows test page, then use free software for real labels — Windows free software.

Path C — macOS

Many Mac users skip classic CUPS queues entirely and use Browser Print + browser design. Guide: Zebra on Mac. If you need a system printer, use Zebra’s Mac/CUPS package for your model and still design free online.

After drivers: free label software

Drivers alone do not design barcodes or batch from Excel. Use free software:

Only install drivers from Zebra’s official support site. Unofficial “all-in-one driver” downloads are a common malware vector.
