How to make barcode labels free

Published: · 11 min read · Tutorial

Anyone can generate a barcode image. Making barcode labels that scan on a packing line means correct size, quiet zones, DPI, and thermal stock. Here is the free method.

1. Choose the barcode type

2. Pick label size

2×1 and 2.25×1.25 dominate product stickers; 3×2 for more text. Size chart.

3. Design free online

  1. Open mylabelmaker.
  2. Insert a native barcode (not a phone photo).
  3. Add human-readable text under the bars.
  4. Set DPI to 203 or 300 to match the printer.

5. Print and scan-test

Print on a Zebra via Browser Print. If bars are soft: fix fuzzy barcodes. Full print path: print barcode labels on Zebra.
