CODE128 barcode labels on Zebra printers

Published: · 11 min read · Barcode

CODE128 is the workhorse barcode for US warehouses, shipping faces, inventory SKUs, and serials. Zebra thermal printers excel at dense CODE128 when the design is native (not a blurry image) and sized for 203 or 300 DPI.

When to use CODE128

For retail point-of-sale UPC/EAN, use those formats instead — UPC product labels.

Free design steps

  1. Open app.mylabelmaker.com.
  2. Choose stock size; set DPI to match the printer.
  3. Insert a CODE128 barcode (A/B/C as needed for your data).
  4. Leave quiet zones (clear margins) left and right of the bars.
  5. Batch with {{sku}} / {{barcode}} from CSV — batch guide.
If scanners fail, check darkness, speed, dirty heads, and DPI before redesigning — not scanning checklist, dirty printhead.
