Print shelf price labels and retail tags on Zebra printers

Published: · 8 min read · Tutorial

US retail and pop-up shops need scannable shelf price labels that update when the spreadsheet changes. Free browser software + a Zebra desktop printer replaces slow Word templates and expensive retail label suites for most small catalogs.

Typical shelf tag fields

Excel columns

name, price, sku or upc, optional size. Export CSV UTF-8. Full mail-merge: Excel batch.

Design in mylabelmaker

  1. Open app.mylabelmaker.com.
  2. Size: often 2×1, 2.25×1.25, or 3×2 — match your strip stock (sizes chart).
  3. Text {{name}}; large price ${{price}}.
  4. Barcode: CODE128 for internal SKU, or UPC-A for retail — UPC guide.
  5. Load CSV → batch print at native DPI so scanners work.
Use the built-in shelf tag / product templates in the editor as a starting layout, then swap in variables. Sale weeks: keep one design and only change the price column in Excel.
