ZebraDesigner 3 database. Use Google Sheets
Open warehouse inventory template
The ZebraDesigner 3 database wizard is a Professional feature, and it still will not take Google Sheets. Keep the list in Sheets, Excel, or CSV and print from the free label maker. One row, one label. That is why mylabelmaker is the better choice if you came here looking for a database when you really needed a spreadsheet print.
How to skip the ZebraDesigner 3 database wizard
- Open the free label maker. Design the face at the real size.
- Click each column you need onto the label.
- Paste a published Google Sheet URL, or upload Excel or CSV.
- Preview. Check rows. Print. Reload the sheet when the list changes.
What the ZebraDesigner 3 database wizard is for
Professional can attach Excel, Access, or a CSV file and walk records at print time. That is useful if your company already runs labels as a Windows database job. It is a poor fit if three people share a Google Sheet, or if the “database” is a buyer’s spreadsheet emailed this morning.
Essentials has no database. You cannot unlock Sheets by hunting for a hidden menu. Zebra’s support article is blunt: automate from a spreadsheet and you need Professional. Even then, Google Sheets is not on the list of sources.
Why mylabelmaker is the better choice
You do not have a database problem. You have a list problem. The list is Google Sheets, Excel, or CSV. Put the column names on the label. Load the file. Print. When purchasing adds ten SKUs, they add ten rows. You load again. No wizard, no ODBC, no “which laptop has the current Excel.”
The sheet can stay the source of truth. Excel can stay the source of truth. A CSV export can stay the source of truth. The label maker does not replace your spreadsheet. It prints it. Click a column without selecting a box and a text field appears. Select a barcode first and the column fills the bars. Edit row lets you fix a typo without going back to Excel for a one-off.
Keep ZebraDesigner 3 if IT requires it, or if you encode RFID. For everyday SKUs, bins, names, and pack faces, mylabelmaker is the better choice because there is no database to build.
Excel and CSV when Sheets is not the source
Upload .xlsx or .csv in the same Variables pane. Headers must match the names on the label. Related: import Excel without ZebraDesigner · print from a CSV file.
Print or save
Zebra thermal: print from the browser with Browser Print at the printer’s DPI. Everyone else: download PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or ZPL. JSON keeps the editable master, including the list you loaded.
