How to make Zebra printer labels at home, step by step

  1. On the home computer, open the free label maker.
  2. Set inches to the labels in the Zebra. Set DPI if you know it (often 203).
  3. Type a name, a date, a bin. Add a barcode if you want.
  4. Print. If you have a roster in Excel, load it and print one label per row.

People bring Zebras home for garage bins, classroom names, jam lids, a side hustle. ZebraDesigner Essentials still feels like work software. You don't need that in the kitchen.

Essentials is Windows. Professional is Windows and costs money for Excel. A family Mac, a Chromebook, a home PC on Chrome: they all open this app. Click the label. Type. Print.

When you're ready to print or save

If a Zebra is plugged in, print from the browser. Set 203, 300, or 600 DPI to match the printer. On a regular printer, choose Print from this computer. You can also download a PNG, a PDF, or the ZPL code a Zebra reads. Save a JSON file if you want to open this label again later, spreadsheet included.
