Does the ZPL viewer print what I pasted or a new picture?

Print sends the pasted job through Browser Print. The picture is only a preview, so unusual commands still reach the printer.

You can view ZPL online and print to a Zebra printer in the same free app that designs labels. Open the ZPL viewer, paste a job, look at the picture, then print. The Zebra gets the original code. You can also draw a label and generate ZPL, or fill rows from Excel and Google Sheets.

Good to know: The preview is a picture drawn on this computer. Odd commands can look wrong in the preview and still print. Print sends what you pasted, not a new drawing.

How to view ZPL online and print to a Zebra for free

Open the ZPL viewer in the free label maker. No signup.
Paste a complete job that starts with ^XA and ends with ^XZ.
Look at the picture. Download PNG or PDF if you need to show someone.
Choose Zebra. Print. Copies are added only if your paste doesn't already ask for them.

The old way was paste on one website, squint, copy again into a send tool, and hope nothing trimmed the graphics. Here the picture and the Print button share a room.

Preview ZPL and print to a Zebra without switching websites

Keep Zebra Browser Print running on this computer. Paste the job. See it. Print it. The designer is next door if the paste is the wrong size and you'd rather draw a new label. Open the viewer from the right side or from Options. Close it the same way.

If you don't have ZPL yet, design the label first

Don't start in the viewer if you still need to make the label. Design it. Load Excel, CSV, or Google Sheets for many labels. Generate ZPL from that design, or just print. The viewer is for jobs that already exist as text. The label on screen is for jobs you still need to draw.

Together that's a small shop's day: draw a bin tag, print fifty from a sheet, copy ZPL for the back office, paste a vendor sample in the viewer to see why it looks odd, print that sample on the same Zebra.

Download a picture of the preview, or print copies

You can save a PNG, JPG, or PDF of the preview to email a buyer. That file is the picture, not a new ZPL job. Print is the pasted code. If you type copies and the paste has none, the app adds them. If the paste already has copies, it leaves them alone.

You never have to paste ^XA to make a birthday label. The viewer waits for the day a partner sends code. Home and work share the app. The heavier tools stay put until you open them.

This isn't a perfect copy of every ZPL command. It won't turn pasted code into boxes you drag. It isn't ZebraDesigner. Drivers stay on zebra.com. If the printer is missing from the list, fix Browser Print first.

When you're ready to print or save

If a Zebra is plugged in, print from the browser. Set 203, 300, or 600 DPI to match the printer. On a regular printer, choose Print from this computer. You can also download a PNG, a PDF, or the ZPL code a Zebra reads. Save a JSON file if you want to open this label again later, spreadsheet included.
