Avery name tag template

You can make an Avery name tag template once and print a whole list from it. Put the names in Excel, a CSV, or a Google Sheet. Click the name column onto the badge. Each row becomes one name tag. It is free, and you do not sign up. You do not need an Avery account.

Twenty-eight volunteers, one signup sheet

Priya is running a school book fair. The signup sheet has 28 people. The first row is Name and Role. Row 3 is Helen Cho, Cashier. Row 11 is Jonah Kim, Setup. She has a pack of Avery 5395 badges, 2.33 by 3.375 inches, and a laser printer. She does not want to type HELEN CHO into a badge designer 28 times, and she does not want the role line to say Setup on Helen's badge.

She opens the Avery 5395 name badge. The canvas is already that size. There is a bar across the top, a big name, a line for the organization, and a barcode. She changes the top bar to BOOK FAIR, puts Name on the big line, and Role where the company name was. She deletes the barcode if she does not need it. The badge still fits the 5395 sticker.

The spreadsheet does the typing

The signup list is a Google Sheet. She publishes it to the web as a CSV and pastes the link. If the office had emailed an Excel file, she would upload that. The first row has to be Name and Role. Helen Cho belongs on row 2 or below.

She clicks Name and Role onto the badge. Row 3 now shows Helen Cho and Cashier. She clicks forward and sees Jonah Kim and Setup, same badge, different words. That is the whole trick. One design. The sheet fills it.

Two people cancelled. She unchecks them. Print this prints the badge on screen, so she can run one sticker and see that a long name still fits. Print prints every checked row, one badge each. She chooses Print from this computer, picks the laser, and turns off fit-to-page. If the printer scales the page, the name misses the sticker.

This prints one badge per row at the 5395 size. It does not secretly drop 28 different names into 28 slots on one giant page. If your stock is a sheet of badges, set the printer paper to that sheet and do not scale. How Priya prints the book-fair badges

1. Open https://app.mylabelmaker.com/?template=avery-5395-badge. No signup.
2. Put Name and Role in the first row of the sheet. People start on the next row.
3. Upload Excel or CSV, or paste a Google Sheet published as CSV.
4. Click Name onto the big line and Role onto the line under it.
5. Print this for one badge. Then print the rows you checked, from this computer, with scaling off.

Questions people ask before the sign-in table

Can I make Avery name tags from Excel?

Yes. Open the 5395 badge, upload the workbook, click the name column onto the badge, and print one name tag per row. A CSV or a published Google Sheet works too. No signup.

Do I need an Avery account?

No. The badge size is already in the app. You edit the words and print from this computer.

Will this fill a whole sheet of different names by itself?

Each row prints as its own badge at 2.33 by 3.375 inches. Set the printer to your badge sheet and do not scale. A 5160 sheet is for addresses, not this badge.

When you're ready to print or save

Look at one row before you print the rest. On a regular printer, choose Print from this computer and do not scale the page. On a Zebra printer, pick that printer after Browser Print is installed. You can also download a PNG, a PDF, or the ZPL. Save a JSON file if you want this label and this list again.
