Zebra TLP2844 won't calibrate

The TLP2844 is a common used 4x6. If it will not calibrate after a new roll, the sensor is dirty, the stock type changed (gap vs black mark), or the roll is loaded backwards. Clean that up, then open the free label maker for one test.

Good to know: Ribbon (thermal-transfer) stock on a direct-thermal-only setting prints blank and looks like a calibrate fail.

How to get a TLP2844 to calibrate

  1. Clean the gap sensor. Reload the roll. Pick gap or black mark to match the stock.
  2. Hold Feed until it finds the next gap. If it still hunts, the roll may be backwards.
  3. Open https://app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup.
  4. Set the size to the actual stock (often 4x6 or 2x1) and print one test.

After it feeds
