Zebra LP2844 setup guide

The LP2844 is a common used 4x6 desktop. Load gapped stock, calibrate, set a 4x6 artboard, print via Browser Print if the PC can see it. Many 2844s are USB or parallel vintage. Open the free label maker and try a test. If Browser Print can't see it, export PDF or ZPL on the path that already works.

Good to know: Some LP2844s are too old for Browser Print. Export PDF/ZPL and use the path that already works on that PC.

How to set up an LP2844

  1. Open the free label maker. No signup.
  2. Set the label size to 4x6 (or the roll in the printer).
  3. Calibrate the gap sensor after you load stock.
  4. Print one test. If Browser Print can't see this vintage unit, export PDF or ZPL.

LP vs TLP

LP = direct thermal. TLP = thermal transfer (ribbon). Do not put ribbon stock in an LP and expect ink.

Print or save

After the test looks right, print the rest from the same design. Save a JSON copy so you can open it again later.
