Print electronics parts bin barcodes from Excel

Published: · 3 min read · How-to
Do this in the free app: app.mylabelmaker.com. No signup. Design the label, then print on a Zebra or download PNG / PDF / ZPL.

Open bin location template

A parts spreadsheet (MPN, value, drawer) is enough. Design one bin sticker in the free label maker. Barcode {{mpn}} or {{bin}}. Add the value in large type. Print. Stick it on the drawer.

Good to know: Barcode the number you will scan later, usually the MPN or your bin ID. Do not barcode a long manufacturer URL.

How to label electronics bins from a sheet

  1. Headers: mpn, value, bin.
  2. Open the free label maker. Set 2x1 to fit a small drawer front.
  3. {{value}} large. CODE128 with {{mpn}}. {{bin}} in the corner.
  4. Upload the Excel file. Print a drawer you can reach. Scan. Then the rest.

Sample spreadsheet

A first pass on resistor and IC drawers.

mpnvaluebin
RC0603-10K10k 0603R-12
RC0603-1K1k 0603R-04
ATMEGA328PATmega328PIC-02

First row is the header. Those header words go inside the curly braces on the label, like {{mpn}}.

Shop tools: tool crib labels. Mechanical parts: parts barcodes.

Print or save

Zebra thermal: print from the browser with Browser Print at the printer’s DPI. Everyone else: download PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, or ZPL. JSON keeps the editable master.
